Austek Roads elevates road safety and reliability in Finnegan Way, Coomera project
Austek Roads recently undertook an asphalt project on Beveridge Road, Thornlands, commissioned by Redland City Council (RCC). The task was to elevate the pavement's surface by 150mm, creating a resilient roadway capable of withstanding wet and dry cycles.
Beveridge Road, servicing light and medium vehicles, faced challenges with standing water during heavy rainfall. Austek Roads employed a dual-layer approach using their carbon technologies, Carbonmastic and Carbonphalt. A 100mm layer of AC20 Carbonphalt served as an eco-friendly substitute for traditional dense grading, enhancing road elevation, durability, and strength. The subsequent 50mm surfacing layer comprised of Carbonmastic 10, offering increased durability, longevity, and rut resistance. Notably, the Carbonmastic surface texture improves skid resistance, especially during rainy conditions.
The project showcased Austek Roads' Carbon mixes' adaptability, delivering a superior product for RCC. The construction adhered to high standards, demonstrating both mixes' excellent compactibility and workability. By utilising Carbonphalt and Carbonmastic, RCC contributed to environmental sustainability, diverting 940 tires from Queensland landfills and resulting in an approximate CO2 saving of 4600kg.
